The Vieques Malecón
On the quiet southern coast of Vieques, Puerto Rico, facing the tranquil Caribbean sea, is the picturesque seaside Barrio of Esperanza. Founded on the shore of a shallow harbour, Esperanza has remained virtually unchanged since its early days as a fisherman's village.
Along the shoreline is a paved prominade, lined with tropical shade trees and classical balustrade, called The Malecón. This lovely boardwalk forms a union between Vieques island life and the unmatched beauty of sandy coastlines meeting endless Caribbean waters.
